Our Advisory Committee
Joel Nathan OAM
In 1983, Joel was diagnosed with a rare form of leukaemia and told he had less than 3 months to live. Since then he has overcome two recurrences, lung cancer, renal failure, coronary by-pass surgery, prostate cancer and stroke. Through his research, work and personal experience he knows that serious illness profoundly affects the quality of life of the whole family. In 2000, he founded Life Goes On and created the HOPELINE® telephone counselling service dedicated to providing hope and inspiration to people living with and after a life threatening illness and those facing the end of life. In 2008 he was awarded the Order of Australia Medal. He has published 2 books and provides training to doctors and allied health professionals. Retiring from the board of LifeCircle after successfully supporting the merger of Home Hospice and Life Goes On and the formation of LifeCircle, Joel is heading the newly established LifeCircle Advisory Committee (in formation).
